Default Need some opinions...

Hi there.
I just purchased my first boat, and it is a 1990 Maxum 2400SC. First impressions? Fast, comfortable ride, lots of power.
Engine has been changed to a 5.7 Mercruiser just to give it a little more juice
Needs a bit of TLC, nothing that me and my wife can't handle. I need some input from others in regards to performance and pluses and minuses about this machine.
Cheers,
Lorenzo

Lorenzo..welcome to the zoo....the 2400Scr is a popular pocket cruiser that performes well..has lots of amenities as well as can go just about anywhere....other owners will chime in but ask any questions and it would help to know where you boat at...

I'm located in Manotick, Ontario, Canada.
I get to choose from Ottawa River, Rideau River and St. Lawrence river.
Kinda late in the year to be doing some boating, but i'm thinking about it....

the first time I'd let the dealer do it..they will make sure it's properly winterized...this will give you all of next yr to learn how to do it yourself...
but....if you insist on doing it yourself....
then change the oils...drive and engine....when you drain the oil in the drive...there are 2 plugs you need to pull to let the oil in the drive drain out...one at the bottom and one at the top.....fill it from the bottom up...when you see oil come out of the top..put the plug in..then give it a few more pumps....top the reservoir off after a brief run....

drain all water out of the fresh water tank and the san tank....put about 3 gals of pink RV antifreeze into the fresh water tank and pump thru till some comes out of each faucet....drain the hot water heater...push some antifreeze thru that too...
san tank...pour about a gal of the pink stuff thru the head until it gets into the san tank...

turn the batt's off..and put a dryer or heater into the salon...make sure the pwr supply is always available so that there is minimal time lost if the pwr goes off....

that's about it ...other than put a good coat of wax on it...
