Not sure, where did the HE come from? Was it a big block full or partial?

Then I doubt it is sized to handle the manifolds.

Hi I also have a 3200scr and I frequently check this website for references and according to Maxum you should be running 17 3/4x 21 on those props.

I'm thinking mid season or next year I'll replace the cast iron intakes for some aluminum intakes to get some extra torque and horse power, so maybe 23 will be fine in the long run.

I doubt the little extra power from only changing the intake will balance the load of too much pitch.

I would use this page to calculate the proper pitch. I did a basic search and a 32 ft boat with twin 7.4's calls for a high pitch prop. You have the details to run a more refined search.

That's where we came up with 23

If that's what the calculator recommends I would give it a try.

The website I posted Maxum customer care is where I read your prop size. I have a 96 3200scr with 5.7s and mine is equipped with 18.25x19pitch exactly what the maxum recommends. I dought there is a lot of weight difference between both yours and mine

I appreciate the link- that's some good stuff (though I still doubt I'll be able to find any of those Maxum part numbers anywhere...).
My 94 3200 has 7.4Ls, and based on the inputs to the Mercruiser prop selector application, it spit out 23 pitch props, so that's what I was looking for. Got one nice one already and it appears to be the same as one of the two props that was on the boat (besides being badly corroded, the props were mismatched). I'll continue to look for a deal on the right hand 23 prop and see how well they work for me.

That's the site I was talking about.
I bought a rebuilt one for $180. Where did you find new for under $300?

I got a QA1940R from lowcostboatingstore.com. It was $299+tax w/free shipping

Ijust looked and my same prop is now 367.00.
Good thing I bought it last year. 367.00 is still better than the $500.00 I was quoted here in Pittsburgh.

So I've got almost everything I need for the running gear bought (even found my second prop!). I think the last thing I have outstanding are rebuild kits for the raw water pumps. I have not taken them apart yet, but I already know I'm going to rebuild them. I thought I read somewhere that people actually liked one of the aftermarket kits better than OEM, like Sierra or GLM, because the Mercruiser made impellers can swell or something. Is there an opinion here on what kits to get for my 7.4L Bravo raw water pumps?

I would go with the OEM kits. All rubber impellers can swell if you use grease to lube them when installing, go with soapy water.

And none of them should ever be run without water, right?

Second on the OEM kits. The Sierra kits, for some reason, the new bolts are always a bit too short. Same on the soapy water. Just coat the impeller and housing with some dishwashing liquid when assembling.
