Has anyone changed the momentary switch on a 5.0 engine, My engine stalls out sometime when i go from forward to reverse. Is it difficult to do and any suggestions on doing it.
Thanks

It sounds like you are referring to the shift interrupt switch. This switch seldom goes bad and the issue you are describing is due to either a cable adjustment issue or lower cable in need of replacement due to too much drag which holds the switch activated too long.

I used to think idle air control valve was an over used suggestion, until mine went up. My symptoms were stalling at idle similar to how you describe (5.0 MPI), have you looked into that? Just a thought.

Thanks for your suggestion. I have changed the idle control valve but I am still getting the same problem. When i switch from forward into reverse going into my slip it stalls out.

Gotcha no problem, hopefully you'll have it back in order soon.

That’s the shift interrupt switch killing the engine , most likely the lower shift cable needs replacement.

You can try temporarily disconnecting the switch to see if the problem goes away.
