Talking Maxum 3000 scr 1999 New Owner Chicago to South Haven Trip!!

Just purchased a maxum 3000 scr 1999 this past weekend. Drove it from Chicago to South Haven MI on saturday. Lake Michigan was smooth and with only using compass and google maps (gps was not working) we went straight across to South Haven. Took a touch over 3 hours going 25-28mph at 3700ish rpm. It has mercruiser 5.0 engines and the trip was way better than we could have imagined. When gps didn't work we planned on just heading east until we hit land then following shore line north. Upon seeing google maps working we deciding to guesstimate the direction through our compass and every 15 minutes we pulled up google maps and adjusted (usually 10 degrees more north or east). I'm sure I will be posting on here with some issues in the future. For now it needs a deep cleaning, a little ac work, and some bimini top stitching (found a person in my marina that does it)

Welcome aboard! Sounds like you had a great trip. As another happy owner of a 01 3000 scr you will enjoy this boat ! Easy to maneuver, lots of room and with those 5.0 l engines enough get up and go but easy at the gas pump. So enjoy the rest of the season.
