Question lounger seat storage?

Hey everyone. 1993 Maxum 1800sr

I am trying to find every inch of storage I can in my boat. I tried once or twice to open the 2 back-to-back lounger seats to see what they have underneath and both seats don't even open up properly and when i crink my head under to look there doesn't appear to be much for open space underneath anyway. has anyone converted the underseat boxes to a more open storage concept? I don't need a whack of storage but enough for a couple life jackets or small floater toys for the kids. I have no pictures yet but i will try to get some today after work.

Thanks!

If its the main seats you are talking about....I don't that is storage. They are designed to lay flat and I think that is why they are setup that way. There should be little knobs on the side you unscrew and then a tab to lift and it will slide forward.

yes, the main back to back lounger seats. I can get them to lay flat and to elevate the one end like a lounger. I was hoping someone had some ideas or maybe have done some modifications to the space underneath for more storage

Ahhh gotcha. I have a cabin cruiser but I think similar seats. I know my area below all that is nasty lol. Gets grease and stuff and obviously accumulating dirt since not easy to get in and clean. Will be interested in what ya come up with here. Sounds like an interesting idea.

Some back to back seats have no storage underneath and some do. If yours does there would be an access on the side isle between the port and starboard side. If yours does don’t have any you can build new bases for the seats and incorporate storage into them. Try looking at similar boats for ideas.

So I managed to snag some photos of the underneath space under my lounger seats. There seems to be a bottom right close to the slider mechanism. It does sound hollow somewhat when I knock on it. I’d like to know for sure if that is a void space for a reason or not

Depending on the level of risk your willing to take, you could always drill/cut a small hole first in an appropriate spot. If find an issue and need to abort the plan you could install one of these;

There’s also a number of readily available doors, latches and pull out bins that would make the project a lot simpler, or give you options if only some of the space is useful. Some examples;

I bought a battery switch panel from these guys and they were awesome to work with and offered customization at a very reasonable price; https://www.trimmedoutinc.com/boat-storage-boxes/
