Default Hiccup????

Was out cruising the other day and the engine "hiccupped". I was at about 3800 rpms, and it was a really quick pause. My dad, who was with me, didnt even notice, as it was so fast. Is this a warning sign of something I should be looking for???????

5.7 Mercruiser, Bravo III 2001 Maxum 2500 SCR.

Thanks SP. Ever since the new long block last year I am scared to death about breaking another engine.

Cheers.
