Default Help with Transducer location

Hello,

I'm a first time boat owner and new to the forum. I just picked up an 1800 MX and so far it has been terrific. The boat is primarily used on Lake Chemung in Howell, Michigan.

I just purchased a Garmin 300C Fishfinder. I flush mounted the unit on the helm and it looks great.

Where is the best location for the transducer? Let me know which number on the attached picture. The blue bars represent where the trailer guides are.

Best Regards,
Leinie's Red

Thanks for the picture.

Seems like #1 is to far outside.
#2 is not flat enough and may interfere with the reading.
#3 seems like the best place but I fear it may be too close to the outdrive. At #3 it would be easy to run the wire up the transom.

Any suggestions?

Going with #2 because I can't do #3 as it doesn't fit with the outboard hoses. Wish me luck.
