The last two digits of the HIN are the year. The HIN is on the rear starboard side of the transom.

That is not a valid HIN.

HIN Format Pre-Aug1 1984:

ABC 12345 1272

ABC = Manufacturers Identification Code (MIC)
12345 = Serial Number
1272 = Date of Certification (First 2 digits are Month, Last two digits are Year)

Optional: ABC 12345 M73E

M = Month Certification
73 = Year of Certification
E = Month of Manufacture

HIN Format Post-Aug1 1984:

ABC 12345 C3 93

ABC = Manufacturers Identification Code (MIC)
12345 = Serial Number
C3 = Date of Certification or Manufacture
93 = Model Year

1) All MIC's (Since 1972) have a three letter code. Here are the MIC's for Maxum, however it is possible to have a Bayliner MIC on a Maxum

BVK
MXK
MXP
MXR
MXY
XNC

1) You have a two letter MIC? Neither YT nor YT1 is not a valid MIC.

2) The Year of Manufacture or Certification doesn't match the HIN format for either Pre or Posts 1984 formats.

3) I'm not saying that they didn't do it in 1984, but I've only ever seen a HIN embossed into the gel coat, not a plate rivetted to the hull.

Not Stolen, but maybe not a Maxum. The Maxum would be subject to US HIN format, however a boat made in Canada would not.

I don't know if this is accurate, but the HIN shows up as:

American Pontoon LLC
Magnum Boats (Out of Business)
Raider Boats (Out of Business.

american Pontoon LLC, looks like they make pontoons only.
I would say that it is stolen.
I would remove the HIN tag and see if the original one has been ground off.
Just my 2c.

Maybe original owner confused Magnum with Maxim if there was a Magnum boat company?

I just used a random HIN decoder to get the info I posted above. I can't say if its correct or not. I did read that there can be 11 digit HINs, but I expected to see 3 letters in the beginning.

It doesn't really matter how many characters there are. There is not a valid MIC in that HIN. The MIC indicates the manufacturer. Now this doesn't apply to all boats. It applies to boats manufactured in the US after 1972.

This boat could have been manufactured outside of the US (Which means it's not a Maxum).

OR

It could mean that the boat was stolen and the HIN ground off. Sold at auction and had a governeing body (state, County, Province, etc) issue a HIN similar to how they handle homemade boats.
