Default Heating question

Our 2700 SCR has the AC/heat option and it seems to work well, but it is LOUD when it kicks on. I am not sure how it works, but there seems to be a fan that runs constantly, then some kind of pump that kicks on. It is especially loud in the sleeping quarter/cave (under the deck). It startles me everytime it kicks on and makes it tough to sleep. I have only run it in heat mode.

Just curious if this is normal or if something is failing...?

Thanks!

Thanks SP. I did fall asleep eventually.... Seems like there must be a better design... when I was first falling asleep, the thing would continually wake me up when it kicked on.

yeah.....spend more time on the boat and it will not be an issue....we're looking at spending about 9 days up in the san juan islands this summer...takes me about a good 3 or 4 days straight getting used to all the noises....

I can imagine. We would love to get our boat into the ocean. I already feel a bit cramped just being in Lake Mead.

I got so used to the ac/heat noise, I can no longer sleep without it.

What gets me is the vacuflush pump kicking in, which is a much subtler noise. I read that it kicks in too often if you have a leak and now I cant stop listening for it all night.

Ha! The vacuum head is subtle in the cabin, but sounds loud from on the aft deck. It tooks me a while (and some help) to realize there was a switch to active the head pump....

It's not just the noises inside the boat but outside as well.
When we raft up we can tell which boat is doing what by the sounds they make like the auooga sound of the vacuum flush to the grrrrrr sound of the electric toilet to loud whining sound of the blower mounted high close to the vent opening , the humming sound of the inverter to the water pump on the sink.
We have gotten so used to these sounds that it just wouldn't be a normal day of boating without them.
Cheers
Paul

I had the same issue...middle of the nite and that pump would start up...cachunk..cachunk...so...we had an aux. sw. on the dash..when we're in port and secured..I hit the switch and the vacuflush is ready for use..go to bed...I shut the pump off and it's done....we don't hear about it till morning when I reach up and turn it back on for the day....

here's a story for you...it's about briefing your guests...we invited a young lady for the holiday ..told her how to flush..well..middle of the nite she gets up ..uses the head..then we hear her adding water...ok..more water...ok..after about 5 min..I knock on the door and ask is everything ok?..she opens the door and says it won't flush...it was a few cm short from overflowing the bowl....had to hit the switch to turn it on..then flush a few times to empty the bowl.......un real....but hey...she learned after that.... irate:
