Here are some pictures of the process. I met the installer in his boat out in what is called Upper Peoria Lake which is a part of the Illinois River. My marina owner does not allow third party vendors to come in and work on boats since he has a shop of his own. I had made the suggestion that I would rent a slip at the local park district marina where they don't care but he said no. So Saturday morning around 11 we did this while the wind was 20 mph and it was a little bit on the rough side with wave action. I don't do well in the cabin when it is like that and my friend that was doing the installation had to take a break also. The old A/C unit came out in 30 minutes and the new one took about 2 hours. The electrical box instead of being mounted on the a/c unit itself, the new one was mounted on the inside cabinet wall. He had a genny on his boat so we used an extension cord to make sure everything worked after it was installed and it did. Everything fit except the condensation hose which I went to Lowes to make up a 6 inch extension for it. It is so much more quieter than the old 15 year old unit and cools so much faster too!

The old unit out!

The new unit getting hooked up. The water hoses both in and out fit perfect.

The old unit was nasty and I has just cleaned last year.

The drain hose , I had to make an extension for it. About 8 bucks worth.

All hooked up and purring like a kitten!! Total cost for unit and installation and the installer got the old unit was a few dollar under $1800.00 which I thought was pretty fair for a 10,000 BTU unit from Dometic.

Looks good!
Where does yours drain to? Not the rear cabin bilge like my 3200, I hope?

Did I read something once about dumping it into the shower or shower drain so you weren't as dependent on that bilge pump?

Defender sells a setup that uses vacuum and the water gets sucked into the out water line. It is pricey.

Speedy, pretty easy to add some to the drain line and route it to the shower sump box on your 3200...

Just get in the habit of manually running the bilge for a couple secs every once in a while and just before you rack out and it should not be an issue. I would assume it would take years of condensation to sink a cruiser

I don't even know how the shower drains yet (haven't figured out the electric head either...)... Does it just drain over the side by gravity, or does this sump you mention have a pump that has to be turned on to get the water out?

Shower sump box is under the small step into the aft cabin. Pumps directly overboard. Most have a float switch located inside sump box.

Is that the same compartment that the hatch at the aft end of the rear cabin accesses? I thought that's where the AC drained to and when that bilge pump went bad, that void filled up and rotted the cabin floor out.

This is at the step down into rear cabin. The small section should have a floor light installed in it. It will be held by Velcro. Pull it off and the shower sump box is there and also access to the water tank. The small access that is toward the rear of the aft cabin is referred to as the forward bilge. That is where the water from your ac drain will now eventually gather.

I'll have to look for that when I get back home. Thanks!
