Gas tank or tanks?

Hi there, we are new owners of a 1999 3000 scr. I wasx told that there is only 1 tank.. Strange as there are 2 fills and 2 gauges. So I fill up using the starboard fill, and the starboard gauge sshows full, and the port gauge shows 1/2.

So there MUST be 2 tanks????

There are two tanks one on each side right under the deck fills. There is no crossover, so you must fill each independently. 70 gals per side is the stated capacity.
