Default Fuel Tank Capacity

Does anyone know the correct fuel tank capacity for the Maxum 3000 SCR? The original specs online indicate 150 gallons for the single tank version. I've got the 2-tank version (port and starboard) and have been assuming 75 gallons each - does anyone know if that's correct?

I'm trying to calibrate the fuel senders properly as they seem to be giving inaccurate readings.

Thanks,
Ken

70 gallons each. That’s what I’ve been going by for the past 20 yrs. I dont recall a single tank version.

Have you ever had to replace a fuel sender and recall the correct tank depth? I've replaced the port tank sender and in the process measured the depth of the tank with a tape measure. It was 35", which seemed deeper than I would have thought (the old sender was set to a 24" depth). I assumed the previous owner may have installed the old one at the wrong length, so I installed the longest one I could find (which is only 28"), so I'm concerned I've installed the wrong length of sender and am getting incorrect readings.

I replaced the sender on the port side a while back. I replaced it with the same length unit (with US ohm range) and readings were accurate. At least as accurate as any boat gauge can be. My theory on the shorter sender was that the tank may have a different geometry on the bottom (narrower/angled/etc). So, 1” of fuel in the bottom may not be linear and have the same volume (gallons) of fuel as measured at the top of the tank.

If I recall, it wasn’t long enough to be close to 35”. 24” would be closer to my recollection.

I wish i had the old logbook to tell you for certain. I’m the 1st and only owner, so no PO to have mucked with things.

Thanks that's really helpful. I suspect you're right about the tank geometry. I filled the tank a couple days ago (fuel came out of the overflow), yet the gauge read between 1/2 and 3/4 full. I'm thinking that if my sender is set too long it might show less when it's full? I'll shorten it back to the 24" length. I may be wrong assuming the prior owner swapped it out. The one I removed might have been the original.

When i bought the boat it was in tacoma I had to drive it back to Seattle on the water...in the process the engine shut off.....I didn't know what happened.....then I remembered the lever for the other side gas tank....I turned the lever and I t started up.....

So are my tanks separated?
Maybe I got too much gas on 1 side?

But I really notice it leaning more after I wash the boat I had a small hole on upper front left side but after talking to a fiberglass company they said I would have to had mega mega water to go in that hole for it to lean like it does.....

I searched whole inside of boat and can't find any water or anything and so I don't know what to do......PLEASE HELP

The Maxum 3000 has 2 tanks, port and starboard. I find that when both are full mine tends to be somewhat unbalanced and lean to port. It's likely you have much more fuel in the one side.
