Default Freshwater cooling 2000 2800scr

I've just taking delivery of my 2800scr ,and want to know if I need to open a seacock for my 7.4mpi freshwater cooled engine . I only see a seacock valve for the head down below in the cabin, and a air conditioning seacock valve below the belts on the engine. Is the heat exchanger coolled by water drawn in by the stern drive, and if so does that same water cool the exhaust

welcome too the zoo....yes ..you do have raw water cooling thru the heat exchanger....there should be a few blue plugs that drain the raw water out...I don't know if your engine has 2 , 3 or 4 of them...but pull those blue plugs and the water will drain out...you should do this everytime you pull the boat or if it's dry stored so it doesn't freeze the water in the block...

So the only raw water intake on a freashwater cooled engine comes in tru the strendrive. No tru-hull seacock valve.

it depends on the model...some of the big blocks/b3 drives has a hull intake right under the pump...then they use a hull valve to seal it incase it fails.....
on some b3 drives the raw water is pulled up thru the leg......
