Smile Finally got the name on the new boat!

It took more time to pick a name and get the right font and colors than it did to pick out the boat.

Happy Thanksgiving!

LOL! Same here. To the point that I haven't ordered ours yet! Well, except that we knew the name before we got the boat.

Who did you order through? I'm thinking about boatus this time. For my last boat I had them done through a local sign shop.

It looks good on the boat, but as the other have asked what is the meaning of the name and where did you order it from?

Guesses....

1) Enjoys the movie "Firefly" and the associated TV series "Serenity".

2) Grateful Dead fan (+2 to the Dead Fan who can figure out the reference)

3) Comic book fan

4) Fan of the author Piers Anthony

In response to shrew's guesses I would have to say # 1. My wife and I went around and around on a list of names. Serenity which has a dual meaning (being onboard is a serene and relaxing experience for us and #1)) was our first choice, but is a really popular name. I was leaning towards "Against the Wind" (Bob Seger), which had a dual meaning in my mind, but she was not that thrilled about it. Also a lot of the names on out list were pretty common according the USCG US Vessel Documentation database. We both enjoyed the Firefly series and the movie as well and I remember the Dead song "Passenger", but don't tell my wife the boat is named after a Grateful Dead song.;-)
In response to Kevlar7r's question, we had the graphics made locally by Prism Graphics in Seattle. I did order the registration numbers for our last boat (1997 2700SCR) from BoatUS and they turned out nice.
Happy Thanksgiving!

+2

I came across a boat who wintered in our boat yard one year named 'August West'. I had to laugh at the pun, since that was the subjects name in 'Wharf Rat'. They told me that in 15 years, I was only the second person to recognize the reference.

Hasn't William Randolf Hearst has been dead long enough?? (Go ahead, I know more than a few of you are firing up Google. If not, you should understand how corruption and one man's greed formed public policy over many decades of the 20th century).
