Default Engine Stalling

Put in 2 new batteries the other night, cleaned her up and yesterday i wanted to go for a quick spin, gas up, just alittle trial run. Started it up let it warm up for about 5 - 10 min. at about 1300 rpm put it into neutral the rpm's drop to about 550 and stalls.. Adjusted it alittle but I couldnt get it proper. I figured it might be the ethanol seperated and i got a quater tank of bad gas so I started going out to get gas today (mission pulling out cause of the constant stalling at the low rpm's)

Finally got out of the No Wake Zone and with throttle down it wouldnt budge over 2200 rpm's.. turned it right around, back into the slip..

Im thinking the carborator is gonna need rebuild..

Any Ideas?????

Default gas

did you replace your filters??ie fuel filters??....I had something like that would hit the throttle and we'd take off.. only to have the rpms drop and sputter and just lug...then let off and it wojld idle ok.......tried a different fuel source and did the same thing...found out that the filters were all plugged up.......check that first......

I already gave the ok to rebuild the carb.
Had it back today, idlind fine now without stalling but the same problem when i try to open it up. AT 2000 rpm's i would hear this craking sound, seemed like it was also working very hard to even get to 2000 rpm..

I'll for sure check the filters tomorrow. Also gonna check the ignition coil, and check the tune-up they did for me at the marina and make sure all the spark plugs are good.

there might be one where the fuel line goes into the carb....then there is a screen in the fuel tank that sometimes gets blocked with debris....really simple to get too if your tank is exposed ...should be.....check those out before you start tearing into a carb....

let us know what it is.....

I had a similar problem once, turned out inside of my distributor cap was all corroded. Boat would rev fine in neutral but had no go. Check cap and rotor.

Turns out it was the carburator. Checked everything else, all seemed fine. Figured worst case rebuiding the carb on an 02 boat wont hurt me, had it put back in today, adjusted, took it out for a spin and were back in action.

Thanks all for the input, really learned alot about different parts through this ordeal.
