Default Eastern TN Lakes

Has anyone out there done any boating on the lakes of eastern TN? More specifically on Tellico or Ft Loudon?

I am considering giving my boat a break from salt water and I am curoius to know how the boating is on these lakes. Are they too crowded with boats? Do the marinas generally have seasonal slips available? Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks

I live less than a mile from Fort Loudon lake. Fort Loudon is more crowded than Tellico but it is not bad. Loudon is a fairly narrow, shallow fast flowing lake. Not alot of good coves and the water is a little murky due to barge traffic and dredging. But it runs right through Knoxville so it is convenient to alot of people.

Tellico lake is a different story. Not crowded at all. The lake is located in a very rural area. The fishing is very good. The lake is wide and the water is clear due to the mountain rivers flowing into the lake. Obviously I prefer Tellico over Loudon, but Loudon is so convenient to me that is where I take my boat more often.

I do not know of seasonal boat slip availability. Probably more available on Tellico due to the rural setting.

Check into Norris lake also. This lake is in the Knoxville area and is big: deep, wide and clear, but it is not convenient to the Smoky Mountains like Tellico and Loudon.

I will look up some docks on Tellico and Loudon if you wish.

Thanks for the info guys.

I am going to check out that link on Lake Cumberland. I will look up Norris Lake also. I really like the Smoky Mt area but have never made it to the lakes in TN to check them out. No need to scout out docks as I probably won't get up that way with the boat until next spring. I have some time yet to do some more research.

Thanks again :hello:
