According to the NADA Guide my 1994 2700scr w/7.4L 454 retailed for $59,000. Now resale is around $11,000 but they sell for between $15,000 and $22,000 w/ trailers around my neck of the woods (Inland Northwest, USA)

i paid 12.500 euro (14.500 usd) for my 1993 2300scr. but i think its in fairly good nick considering its age. I also believe here in europe you pay a bit more since its an imported boat, no?

the hull/fiberglass seem extremely thick and sturdy and the guys at the wharf said that newer boats have much thinner layers and are more fragile.

engine still seems to be running great and aesthetically the boat looks much better than some of the sea rays i went to see about the same age.

although the previous owner insisted the boat was absolutely in mint state and had always been serviced every winter and therefor refused to bargain i keep discovering stuff thats broken like the alternator, which i replaced, atwood water heater which seems hard to find a replacement for in europe, sterndrive oil dark as motoroil, all window seals leaking, wastewaterpump leaking (yuck) etc i'm nonetheless actually really happy with the boat.

im actually really surprised that for a boat thats about 25 years old that, besides these problems, still looks so good. i opened up some compartments and expected mildew, spiders, rotting parts and what not there's nothing like that. i was a bit reluctant to buy a "bayliner plus" but it all seems to be build very solid.

anyway, since this is my first boat ever i had no idea what a boat like this costs new... so if a 27 ft was around 60k the 23 ft was probably around 50k?

Crus,
I checked the basic spec's on NADA for a 1993 2300scr original retail $35,000. They sell today for $6,000 to $8,000.
Sounds like you found a good one. The Maxum's are really nice boats, ahead of their time and superior to the basic Bayliner.

i guess i overpaid.
but then again, it came with all new canvas cover, Bimini and sides.. which is probably a couple of thousands to have custom made.

That is why you don't ask questions like that about a boat you own.

Never ask what is was worth new. Never ask what it is worth now. (Unless you plan on selling it). These questions will leave you awake at night.
