Default Carpet Advice

I am replacing the carpet in my (new to me) 1997 Maxum 2000 SRL and have a question about "snap-in" carpets. My deck is fiberglass and the old carpet pulled out really easy without leaving much glue to clean-up (YEA!). Do the snap-in carpets stay in place really well or do they shift around a bit? Is it better to glue the new carpet?

Thanks,
Tommy

Snap in carpet is used on glassed decks, do you plan to glass the deck over. I know it may have a single layer of glass now but you want a finished look as snap in leaves uncovered sections.

Your application calls for gluing new carpet. snap-in carpets would not make sense in your application. as meantioned, snap-in carpets are for 'finished' fiberglass decks with gelcoat and (commonly) non-skid surface.

Thanks so much for the advice. I think I will glue it as per your recommendations.

Thanks Again,
Tommy

where did you get a hold of replacement carpets? or custom made?

my 2300scr came without them but there are buttons on the floar where they once used to be, so click in and no glue i think.

Marine Carpeting marinecarpeting.com . Just flat stock and I will cut my own. Think I'll use the old carpet as a pattern and cut the new carpet just a little bigger, stick it down and then trim off the excess. I didn't look to see if they have the snap in or not but seemed to be a good company to work with. Good luck.

What you described is the proper process. Cut with a few inches of margin, glue it, cut trim.

Snap-in carpet requires that all of the edges be bound. This alone can get a little pricy.

I just put in new snap in carpets in my '02 2300SR from Corinthian Marine. They actually had the original pattern and they fit perfectly. You have to put the snaps on yourself which is not too difficult. I love the fact that they do not move and I can remove them when they get soaked if I want.
