well.....um....I didn't want to count my chickens before it was delivered....

we just got home from the new toy.......trying to move gear from seapuppy II to our new toy....

we're the proud owner of a brand new 2008 bayliner 340.....we had it delivered friday...the story goes....a couple of weeks ago we'd looked at about 3-4 boats in the 33-36ft range...they were trash.....I mean asking top dollar for a boat that was road hard and put away dirty...

so..I called my buddy Mack up in bellingham and asked if we were crazy or was the inventory just garbage.....and thinking of trading ours in was probably not on the list...

Mack told us he might have something we might be interested in...and last weekend we went up to bellingham to see this beautiful 340 with the serpentine seating.....it's fairly loaded with 5.7ltr b3 seacore drives......kohler genny...heat...air.....tv..hot and cold running crew....(wife on menopause  ) and a pretty nice black and white hull treatment...I got a mess of photo's that I took and will post them as soon as I grab a shower and put some stuff away...

thanks guys.!!.

Nice boat! Did you get in on the rebate program? I see Bayliner is kicking back up to $26,000 on 2008 models. Maxum is running a similiar program. I am going to a boat show in a few weeks. I am curious to see what kind, if any, deals are running on model year leftovers.

Seapuppy, now that you have run your new boat for awhile , how do you think the 5.7 ltr engines fit the 340? Is there enough power there? I see that many of the 340s come with the 5.0 ltr engines. Would you go with anything less than the 5.7 lts on this boat?

Yeah, I have been looking around a bit at upgrade options. I keep coming back to the 340. My wife really likes the 340 too. And we all know the final decisions are ultimately made by our wives!!

Dave....yes...it's the one with the purse strings that make the decision....first off...i can honestly say that now that we've put and stowed all of our crap on board....the boat performs magnificently.....we had gear for 10 days up in canada last 4th of july....and we had it all stowed and the boat was never crowded or cluttered.....
the 5.7ltr mpi engines.....man..what can I say about those beasts.....???....we cruise at 3600rpm....(my maxum 2700scr cruised at 4krpm).......
even loaded with fuel..water.....pooooooo.....and 2 dogs..gear and enough food/drink for 10 days..they never missed a beat....had plenty of power and with snotty water...we got pretty decent gas mileage and pwr....coming on plane was easy.....we are usually on plane by 3k rpm.....
so....to answer your other question about 5.0ltr engines....only go that low if they are mpi engines and tied to the b3 drives.....but bigger is always better......5.7ltr is definitely the way to go with this boat....both engines are the same foot print....but .....the 5.7ltr doesn't bog down when you first take off....it doesn't feel 9 people on board....it just grunts down low and takes off.......gotta say that I really love these engines and there is plenty of room in the engine bay to move around and hide a few bodies if need be

ok..just kidding about the bodies....but so far there is more room in the engine bay than any boat I've ever seen in this size of boat....I call it the wine cellar.......it even comes with a ladder to climb down into the engine bay........

would I recommend this boat to you....in a new york minute.....it's well built.....it's solid....it's roomy....it's more fun than wild assed monkey sex.....and it increases your carbon footprint 3 fold......

SP :hello:
