Default Bravo 3 question

1998
2800 scr

So I pulled the out drive off to grease the u joints on the drive shaft today and noticed something unusual on the trim ram mounting area
See pick.
This is where the long bolt goes through that holds the rams to the drive.
It’s an oblong hole with what looks like a piece of wood to make up the difference.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark, yes the hole is oblong as it’s part of the upper housing that is common between all 3 different Bravo drives. However the wood is a make shift filler. Under Documents of this site you will find the Mercruiser manual for Bravo drives and it will have the correct filler and which way to position it for the Bravo 3 application.
