Default Bottom paint time

Been so busy lately, haven’t been on here much. But time to start working on the boat.
I got just about two seasons out of my hard anti fouling paint and I bought two more gallons. Question is to I take the electric sanders to the bottom and try to take a lot of the current paint off, or just take some sand paper by hand to scuff it? Last time I took the majority of the old paint off and it was quite the mess.

Being a hard paint it will build up over years of applications and this leads to it pealing off. If there only basically only two coats on it now I would just ruff it up and paint then do the heavy sanding next time.

Out of curiosity, why choose a hard paint over an ablative? Does the boat sit a lot?

Well I’ve been using the eel snot, which doesn’t work with ablative. I try to get the boat out every 1-2 weeks.
