Default Boat history

I was just wondering if there is any way of finding out some of the history of our boat from the hull number?
It's been imported into the UK but started life in the US.
Any ideas?

While cars have a history recorded by dealers performing maintance boat mechanics do not have a global database to use so maintance and repairs can only be found if the PO kept the paperwork and passed it along.

Shame, I just wonderered if there was a register of who the boats were sold to when new. It would have been great to trace how my Maxum got to the UK and who and why it was imported.

In the US there may be some records as most states require registration however once sold oversees that would end. As far as why it was exported I can only say someone oversees wanted it. I have heard of many US built boats going oversees but only a fraction going the other way.

There are quite a few Maxums and Bayliners here in the UK.
Our river and canal system differs greatly from in the US with quite a few canals being only 7ft wide which is why we have many narrow boats that are 6.10 wide but 70ft long.
As they have finished making Maxums maybe a nice addition to this site would be a register? Model of boat and a picture? Also there could be any additions done to boat like a new canopy, new engine ect
Just a thought

Maxums and Searays seem to be popular boats to ship to Europe and Australia.

I sold a 2300SE to a broker years ago and he told me the buyer was located in Australia. They pushed the trailer / boat into a shipping container and put it on a ship.

There are several data aggregators out there that search US state DMV records and USCG Doc data. Try www.boathistoryreport.com Report won't be detailed and it will cost you about $30 US.
