Default Bilge pump problem

Anybody ever had a problem when a bilge pump works ok with the outlet pipe disconnected but as soon as the pipe is connected no water comes out?

And no the pipe is not blocked!!!

Is the pump simply not powerful enough? I find this senario very perculiar.

Help!

sounds like a new bilge pump is needed..but see if you can run a wire hanger thru the pipe ....just to make sure there is no blockages.....if no blockage then it has to be the pump....

let us know how it goes....

and welcome to the zoo...

If the outlet pipe isnt blocked sounds as if the pump hasent got enough umf you could try attaching some pipe to the pump outlet and hold it up to see if the pump is knackered

Well guys I fixed it.

You were right the bilge pump was simply not powerful enough. I replaced it and it works perfectly now.
