Default Bennett auto trim tabs.

Well...after some trouble getting the auto trim tab kits to work at first....I have to report to you that I love them so far....there are 3 parts to the set up...other than you have to have bennett trim tabs already installed or buy the whole set up.....the 3 parts are the central cpu..this unit has a couple of accelerometers in it....there are 2 harness additions that you have to splice into the ships wiring for the switches and one that takes the shipside wiring to the cpu....
then a relay that goes in the aft engine bay where the pump is....
what I found that didn't work was one harness was too short...so had to splice extension wires to the cpu....
the trim pump just snaps into the relay......
once everything is plugged in...turn the unit on at the dash mounted control pad...then set the boat attitude at idle...of course you can set it while underway once you get it all leveled out...then if the boat takes any kind of change of attitude...the trim tabs automatically adjust the tabs ..boat relevels.....I set mine while idling out of our no wake zone and then hit the throttle...bow came up and the tabs took over..dropped the bow and then as we picked up speed..the boat leveled out......

gotta say it was easy cuz now when we run thru windy weather and the boat changes attitude....I don't touch the trim tabs....boat levels right out....best 350 bucks I've spent on the boat for cruising....

so far so good....so..if your thinking of them....it's a nice addition...

I also installed the Auto Tab last season and it works great! I had an issue with a bad relay which Bennett replaced and I had some trouble locating the 20 amp fuse that fed the original set-up so I could swap out with the included 3 amp but after that, no problems. Great addition and it sure frees up the hands for more important things like dodging crab traps in the Chesapeake.
