Default Back on the Water

Did the shakeout trip this last weekend at Lake Powell.

Temps were high 60's to low 70's.

I had the impeller changed out by a mechanic at our storage place. We backed the boat in far enough to drop the outdrive and run for a minute.

I could hear water flowing under the engine block and immediately feared frozen/cracked block(I did Winterize but still...)

After standing on my head in the engine compartment I could see the source--it was the 2 hoses going into the new impeller.

We pulled the boat back up the ramp and upon further investigation, the clamps on both hoses had not been tightened.

After I replaced both clamps and tightened, we tried again, with much better results.

Guess I better post a couple pics of the new season

You store at Big Water right ? What did they say when you told them about the half finished services work that was performed on your boat? That gives me concerns since I was planning to store there this season and would most likely have them do any repairs that came up (I'll do the annual service before taking it up).

They obviously did not run it after the install to check their work.

Alan IS a good mechanic, I don't see this as his work.

I still like keeping the boat there.

They charged me for the impeller housing only, deducted any labor.(seems reasonable)

Hope he learns to oversee his staff a bit better from this example. I still plan to store with them this season.
