anchor chute - Maxum Boat Owners Club

Anyone with a 2800 or 2900 or similar have a preference of type of anchor chute that works well with our relatively small width channel on the bow spreader? I am looking to replace ours. It has been my nemesis since we purchased this boat. the anchor often gets caught up in the chute when retrieving and does not self launch. If anyone has a model number or picture of their set up it would be appreciated.

I believe you're referring to the bow roller out on the bow pulpit. The bow roller is largely based on the type of anchor you have. When a windlass is involved, the bow roller should be a 'self-launching' bow roller. So this begs the following questions:

1) What type of anchor are you using? (Type and size?)

2) Do you have a windlass?

3) What type of bow roller is on there now?

Thanks Shrew. Yes I have a windlass and a 13lb danforth anchor. The roller is too small for this anchor, only 3 screws in the front end which causes it to pivot. The roller up there now is about two feet and just under 3 inches wide. Why someone would create a roller that long and have the screw holes on the forward end does not make sense. It has one roller on it.

I am looking for setups for this model boat that work. Someone with first hand knowledge of what works best for a 2800 SCR. There is not much room to work with up there as far as staying inside the groove.

I have had guys at the marina say to make a plank of wood to fill the groove. Epoxy the wood to seal it and then place a wide bow roller/chute on top of this.

That is what I did. However, I changed the type of anchor I'm using to one that absolutely would not fit on the existing roller. As far as the mounting hole design that is perfectly fine and shouldn't cause any problems. It should not be moving on you at all. The type of roller you choose will be dictated by how the bow pulpit is designed and the type of anchor you're using.
