Hey Biggerseagar / Maxum Gang,

I havnt had the freezing problem with my 16,000 BTU A/C Marine Airrrrrrrr system since new and I think I know why. The coil fins normally act as a filter until they clog from dust and lint that is so prevalent in the closed cabin. To prevent the subsequent clogging and freezing I made a pre filter out of cut to fit air filter material available from your home center. I hold it place with a bungee cord as shown in the pictures. As far as freezing , all I can say is I run my T’stat at 78 when I’m not there and 63 when I am (especially during this Africa hot weather we have been having and the unit never freezes. I remove the filter for cleaning once a week (this picture shows the accumulation of lint gathered in a week’s time) and all is well.

Hope it helps you guys stay cool!
