Default 2000 scr 2700

It is time to replace the batteries on my 2700 SCR. My batteries are currently a Duracell 27DC and a Duracell 29HD. Does anyone know if this is a correct configuration? Obviously they are not the original batteries for my boat. I would have assumed both would be the same battery.

I have they Promatic 30-3 AllTech series charger.

What should I buy?

They do not need to be 5he same size but I would stay with the same type. Group 24 was standard but group 27 give more storage.

After some further research I found out that the 27 DC is a type 27 battery and the 29 HD is a type 31 battery. Do you think I should replace with exactly what is there now or could I possibly use two group 31 batteries?

The starting battery doesn't need to be a Deep Cycle. A starting battery is fine. The CCA of the battery will be dictated by the requirements of the engine. I used to use a Group 27 AGM Starting battery to start my 496.

The house battery should be a Deep Cycle. The Amp Hours will be dictated by how you use it.

How much time do you spend off of shore power (NOT running the engine), such as on anchor or on moorings?

What is your average amp draw and duration off shorepower? (Do you run the stereo for hours on end?)

The larger the battery, the higher the amp hours. I used to have two Group 31's wired in parallel. However, we are typically on anchor from Friday night until Sunday afternoon every week. We spend 1-2 weeks at a time on anchor during vacations.

Personally, I wouldn't use FLA batteries. Spend the money on a good AGM battery and oversize the house bank.

If the money is not a problem, I would go with two group 31. One year use #1 battery when you ancor, next year use #2 from the selector switch. But have to be Deep Cycle batteries. Good luck
