I'm headed out to the boat tomorrow too.......to see her for the first time since I wrapped her up last fall. This is actually the first time I haven't checked on the boat during the winter. We've had such a mild winter with no real snow to speak of, so I haven't really worried about it much. I wish I could take her out. I guess I'll stand at the helm and make 'vrrooom' noises for a while.

Here in the midwest we are getting alittle bit of rain. I just want to get the shrink wrap off and put the bimini and cockpit cover on. Then I can touch up the bottom paint and wax to my hearts content. Hopefully saturday the weather might shape up.

We must have done something right last fall.

We fired it up on dry ground with the muffs on and it started rather quickly.

Figured we wouldn't press our luck so stayed the first night in a slip, hooked up the power, charged the batteries some more and everything was working.

Flushed the water tank a couple times.

Headed up lake the second day and all still seems o.k.

O.K. now for the pics or it didn't happen thingClick image for larger version

But more seriously--I'm very selective on beaches.

Always try to find a fairly steep sloping one. At Powell finding a sandy one is never a problem.

Most the time the stern remains in 4-5'+ of water.

I'm much more comfortable beaching than on anchor.

Last year over Memorial Weekend, we had sustained winds in the 70mph range. We stayed beached for 3 days.

We always use 3 tie off points, Anchor and 2 ropes @ 45deg off the stern.

We do get a minimal amount of keel rash but a rather small price to pay for staying put on a large lake capable of 6-8' waves.

I've tested anchoring out during the day and it's very hit and miss, a lot of the lake bed is slickrock sandstone, incapable of holding an anchor.
