Default 1997 SCR3000 prop

Hi, I just picked up a 1997 scr3000. I have all winter to get her tip top for next season. The boat came with no props.

It has twin 5.7 efi mercs and alpha gen2 1.47 ratio drives. Can someone tell me what a good all around pitch is for this combo or what they originally came with from the factory?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard

Maybe someone with your set up can recommend a prop but I would try mercruisers prop calculator on their site to see what it recommends.

Enjoy and post picture of the boat and your projects.

Thanks for the welcome and reply. I am coming from a 24wa and have owned many boats mostly speed boats. I like the layout of this boat and am very excited to get it tip top for next season. It is being delivered this monday and I will be sure to take some pics.

Hmm, I didn't know that the 3000scr came with that engine/drive combo.

Mine has carbed 5.0's with bravo 2's, so my prop advice wouldn't do you any good.

The most common were twin 4.3's in that model. I know it came with a 5.0 option. I wouldn't be surprised if it also came with a 5.7 option as well. The highest level engine package rarely sells in new boats. However, they didn't offer a fuel injected option in 1997, to my knowledge.

For bravo drives. The OP has alpha drives, which can't swing a 17" prop.

I have taken delivery and have gone threw it top to bottom. Not a bad boat and really like the layout. It will be a long winter but I have lots of work to do. I pulled both motors to freshen them up. They are 5.7 efi tbi injected. One has already been replaced. The starboard motor is a vortec and the other is not. I more than likely will convert the other to a vortec and need to source another intake manifold.

I have seen a few with the 5.7 and alpha gen2 but not many. This is 100% my combo, 5.7efi's with gen2 alpha's. So if some one does run this combo please share your prop info.
Thanks Alex

Have you tried the prop calculator? Shrew posted a link.
