Default 1996 maxum 2700scr

I recently bought a 1996 maxum 2700scr with a single 7.4l and a bravo 1 outdrive gear ratio 1:36 I have trouble getting on plane, the engine is brand new that I replaced but still having trouble getting on plane. Does anyone know the proper outdrive I should have?

Welcome Aboard!

That boat should have a Bravo 2 with a 2:1 ratio not and Bravo 1. If you are correct that it's a Bravo 1 I doubt you'll find a prop that will provide satisfactory performance.

I thought a bravo 2 couldn't handle the torque from a 7.4L single engine?

I've been looking at a bravo 3 with a 2.43 ratio would that work?

All Bravos use the same upper have where the cone clutch is. The lower half of the the Bravo 2 is more robust than either the Bravo 1 or 3.

I would contact Mercruiser’s help line to see what gear ratio they recommend, they are very helpful.
