Question 1994 3200 SCR Shower Pump

About 8 weeks ago I purchased a 1994 3200 SCR with the big block 7.4L engines. The boat only had 48 hours on the engines and was sitting for 13 years fresh water. After a complete rehab and remachined engines we are in San Diego Bay.

One big problem is that I cannot seem to find the Shower Pump Switch anywhere on board. Any advice of where to look or its direct location would be much appreciated. Thankyou!

John, my maxum has a shower sump box with a separate float switch and bilge pump mounted in one box. Look under the step down into aft cabin, there is a carpeted piece that has Velcro holding it in place. Pull on the piece that has the light mounted in it....sump box is behind there. Jesse

Thankyou for your response Jesse. I have now located exactly where you were talking about, but I see no switch. Is it an automatic system that will start pumping when I run the shower just like my bilge pump that is connected directly to battery? or is there some sort of master switch that I need to keep on in order for it to run when water starts flowing?

No "master" switch. Inside the sump box is a float switch that turns on the bilge pump that is also inside the box. U can do one of two test. A bucket of water down the drain and watch and see if she pumps or take box out while dry and "bench test"...... bucket of clean water won't hurt anything....check inside of box for soap scum and sand, hair etc. these need regular cleaning if used frequently. I also found a wad of gunk on the bottom of shower drain.....remove hose/fitting on bottom of shower drain and clean......not fun but there is nothing better than a working shower drain!!!

Great, I really appreciate you taking the time. I will be returning down to the boat this upcoming weekend and will give it a test. Hopefully everything will be in order and I will perform a clean out to insure the life of the pump will last. Once again thanks!

Your A/C condensate drains into that stupid box as well. Replaced the float switch on mine after the condensate flooded into the cabin carpet. New float switch went bad. Replaced the whole box. Bust Out Another (few hundred).

NOt all of them. It depends on the year. Mine drains right into the bilge. My shower sump doesn't have a float switch. It has a manual switch in the head. Mine is a 97 2800.

My AC now drains into shower sump box.....didn't originally. Replaced box couple years ago and try to put water or shower on a regular basis.
