Default Opinions and feedback - 1998 Maxum 4100 SCR with Diamond Series Cummins

I have been out of boating for 5+ years and I'm looking to get back into it, this time as a single man. I'm looking for a boat I can handle on my own. I've looked at 4 boats so far: 1998 Sea Ray 370DA, 1999 Sea Ray 380DA, 1997 Formula 41 PC and today I looked at a 1998 Maxum 4100 SCR.

The Maxum and the Formula both have the Cummins 450HP Diamond series engines while the Sea Rays have the 380 HP 7.4s.

I've owned Maxums before, I do prefer the trim and finishes of the Sea Rays. I was impressed with the 1998 4100 SCR, really impressed. She shows well and is well maintained. Seems like a solid well designed boat.

I'm looking for general feedback and opinions on this boat, especially from anyone who has owned a similar size Sea Fay or Formula. I am also looking for feedback on the Cummins diesels. I've never owned a diesel engine boat. I did most of the maintenance and upkeep on my last boats and would be doing the same if I purchase the Maxum.

Thanks in advance,

Greg

Greg welcome aboard

That's a good list of boats that you have owned and the ones you are considering are a good size to handle yourself. I guess you have the expierenced to handle these yourself and plan on taking plenty of friends to want a boat this size. Hopefully members in this size will chime in.
