Lower Unit not coming up

I have a 1997 3200 SCR and my lower unit will lower but will not come up. There is no sound whatsoever when I try to lower the unit.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Does it raise if you use the trailer button? If yes the trim limit switch is bad if no the up soleniod is bad.

The trailer option doesn’t work on either the starboard or port.

Since they will lower that means power is getting to the control switch. You need to measure for power on the down soleniods control terminal with the green/white wire when the switch is in the down position. If power is present the soleniod is bad.

I'm a lazy troubleshooter. Take a screwdriver with an insulated handle and jump the external posts on the solenoid. It will bypass the internal gate. If the drive goes up, the solenoid is bad.

you can also wack the button about 20-30 times as fast as possible. that can knock corrosion off of the internal gate enough to get it to work once, or a little bit. Either can get you home if you're stuck and also verify it's the solenoid.

BTW- It's almost ALWAYS the solenoid.

Incidentally, the pump is reversible. So, if it works in one direction, then the pump is good.

Jumping the solenoid also works when the motor won't start. Great way to test the starter or get back in (at least with my 95 2700).

It's how I used to start my old riding lawnmower.
