Default Lenmar Windlass speed 4600

Here is a video from my Google photos.

Some general forums says 30' per min is usually on the ok/normal side. Since i get to the floor and back to the pulpit (~15'), I say I'm getting about that speed, but just seems a bit slow.

Looks like the speed is OK in my book, I would no want it to come up any faster as if you did not stop in time could do some damage.
All of the windlass's I have been around ran at bought that speed.

That’s about the same speed my windlass operates at. Wouldn’t want it coming up any faster. 4600 SCB as well.

1 ft every 2 seconds would seem unreasonably fast to me. You'd be ripping it off of the seafloor. How would you even retrieve it? You'd be pulling the boat with the windlass (not good), or you'd be advancing on the anchor very fast. The bow veers off in the wind and you need to stop periodically to wait for the boat to wag and the rode to straighten anyway.

The manual for the Lewmar Capstan 1, which I believe was the OEM for the 4600, indicates a speed of 18 meters/minute at no load and 9 at 175 kgs. That equates to a speed of 30 ft/min at nominal load. I have all chain and generally use my engines to position the bow to minimize load and if necessary loosen the anchor. As stated, the speed kenyu73 describes is about right.

Agree with SteveP for my Lewmar windlass.
