Default Hot water heater

Has anyone ever replaced the hot water heater on a 3500 scr? Just wondering how it comes out of where it is there is a small opening under the stairs to access it for winterizing it but not sure how to get it out of that spot

Replaced mine two years ago. Pulled it up through the hatch above and popped the new one in. Simple.

Are you sure you need to replace the unit?
Mine had a bunch of leaks - first was the temp / pressure valve. Replaced it. Second was both of the plastic pipe nipples were slightly cracked. Replaced with brass - no more leaks.
Mine was in the cubby under the stairs - not easy but doable.
