Default A/C freezing up

My ac has frozen up on the coil twice now. I cleaned the coil and made sure the airflow was cleared of any restrictions. Will the water pick-up inlet affect this? If it is plugged? My next step is checking the refrigerant level? Any thoughts?

if you look really close there is a fuzzy woven air filter stuck to the side of the evaporator coil and its black in color.

you need to pull that off and clean it. it will mot likely fall apart with age. its like any window a/c filter, and can be replaced.

if your a/c is peeping raw water out the bow, then is not a in-let problem.

low freon, can make it ice up, but if that the case, you'll need it serviced anyway.

I haved finally learned how to use a marine a/c. Here is what I have found that makes my ac not freeze up. First of all do get the freon cheecked. If that is OK then learn how to use your ac so that freezing won't happen. Set your fan on the highest number not automatic. Second drop the temps in increments of 3 or 4 degrees at a time so that the ac kicks off and the fan runs only and that will keep you from freezing up. Do this down to a temp of your desire.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the help. I'm going to try the 3-4 degree dropping and setting the fan on a different setting. Mike

I paid a buddy $35 to come charge it. I'm gonna have to find the leak and fix it.
