Default 3900 SCR salon floor bulge.

I have not seen it my self, and won't until Monday as I live 5 hours from the marina, pictures show the carpeted area of the floor, under the table has lifted three or so inches. Apparently this happened while the fresh water tank was being topped off, bilges are dry. I'm under the impression that the fresh water tank is under the bed but don't know that as a fact, any ideas? Thanks

No ideas. Pictures would help. Understanding what is underneath the sole where the galley table is located would also be helpful. I can't see overfilling a rot0molded water tank to cause 3 inches of deflection in the cabin sole.

It would appear that when my wife filled the water tank she pushed the hose in too far blocking water overflow...apparently, that caused the tank to swell pushing up the flooring. I didn't see the damage myself. The boys arranged for a marine plumber to come by, he relieved the pressure by turning on a faucet, the floor settled back down. I was surprised to learn the location of the tank. No hatch, just carpet and pad glued to the floor. We will put in an access hatch prior to replacing the floor cover. Thanks for your input.

Absolutely not. If you have, in any way, lead your wife to believe that she caused this, then you need to go and apologize to her NOW.

What you describe is absolutely impossible.

The fill line is on the top or the top of one of the sides of the tank. The vent line is on the top of the tank. These are two different fittings. There is no way to block the vent in the tank with the garden hose from the yard or dock.

What has happened is your vent line is clogged. She filled the tank. The tank bulged. The hose may have prevented the air from venting back up the fill line, but it is not designed to be a vent. That is the result of the vent line being clogged.

Buy three new through hull vent line coecles. One for the holding tank, one for the fuel tank and one for the water tank. Replace all three. This is a common problem that needs service about once every decade or so.

Hmmm, thanks for the input... I'll check out the vent/vents and take my wife to dinner. I'd have never thought their would have been enough pressure to bulge the tank and raise the floor.
