Default 3200 SCR pump out question

Just bought a 1996 3200 scr. I have never owned a boat with on board waste water. How does the pump out procedure work? What do I need to do at the gas dock during a pump out?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Only thing that is needed is the plastic screw in fitting to connect to your marina pump out hose. First couple pump outs, put some water from the filling station in and repump. Be sure to add recommended amount of rv holding tank treatment.

It's really quite simple. The marina will connect a hose to the waste valve (must be airtight) and basically suck out all the waste in the tank. Once its empty, you should flush the toilet using the fresh water flush quite a few times (10-20 or more if you can) and have them pump that out too. This is to rinse out the tank as best you can.

actually...some of the stations have those pressure fittings that are supposed to seal up against the hull fitting...then open the valve and it sucks out the waste...

I went to a local marine store here in seattle and got one of those fittings that screws into the hull fitting and clamps down on it...open the valve and it sucks the stuff out...
then I add about 10 gals of fresh water to help rinse the tank out....then pump out again....do this 3 times......helps to keep the smells down...

just remember...if it didn't go thru you...it don't belong in there........also get some rv deodorizer called "odor loss"....this helps keeps the smells down....

hope this helps...

I thought about buying the pump out connector, but what do you do with it when you're done? Fortuantely the gas dock I go to for 99% of my fill ups and pump outs has the correct size of quick connector. Besides, many places use the rubber univeral connector anyway. You know, the one that you need to keep pressure on and make sure the hose is held squarely on the pump out? the one that you only screw up on ONCE!! LOL If you don't know what you're doing, just tell the attendant, they are usually pretty helpful. They will tell you what you need to do. Though they don't typically do it for you, at least not in my area.

The only piece of advice I would give is, there are usually TWO garden hoses at the dock. One is for filling water tanks and the other is for flushing holding tanks. I would let the attandent hand you the proper hose. there is nothing worse than using the potable hose to flush a holding tank.

Good point Shrew unless, of course, you use the holding tank hose to fill your fresh water tank (ewww!)

One other thing to add is if you have really bad odor problems emanating from the poop tank, flush a few cups of bleach and let it sit in the tank for a day or two, then pump out. It kills like everything that makes an odor.

not to disagree..but putting bleach into the holding tank messes with the bugs that are there to eat the mess when it goes into a sanitation system....so it's best to just rinse and empty normally a few times ...or...use odor loss...chemical available at every wally world for about 6 bucks a case....couple treatments should do well in the tank..

I think the key here is to take the boat to your pump out station and see how it goes. I don't want to mess with a connector and since my station has a very effective universal connector I don't need to. Check it out and go from there.

There are two types of people in the the world. Those who get sprayed at least once by a universal connector, and those that don't do pump outs on a boat.
