Default 3200 SCR Anchor light

The light was broken off when I purchased the boat.
Is this light supposed to be the 2 bulb, all around type, or a single bulb style.
It looks like it could go either way.
There are three wires inside the arch, butt-spliced down to two.

There is most likely a common ground, and two hot feeds. One feed comes from the Anchor Light switch, then other comes from the Running Lights switch. Both require the all around light, however the anchor light circuit doesn't include the red/green running lights. The lights typically only have a POS and GND, so the two hots are combined.

Any anchor light will do as a replacement. Make sure the post places the light above the radar and GPS antennae.

So.... does this boat need (coast guard requirements) an all-around 2 bulb or the single bulb?
I can put up either.
Usually, it is to have a white light visible front and back, while parked and a white light on the aft only while running.
I figured it was the latter as there is not one mounted on the stern.

Jim was he original a combo light with 2 bulbs? Aft light is the stern running light and both are on for the anchor. Where is it located on the arch, top and just a short unit?

As shrew said one wire is the common negative or ground and the other two are positive one for the stern running and the other for the forward bulb. In the anchor position both positives are powered.

The head of the original light was gone, when I purchased. Is just a short light pole. (Around 12") Was hoping one of you 3200 owners could tell me what you have.
Thanks

Perko and other have a replacement, short fixed mount with dual bulbs. A quick search or west marina will give you results.

If the two hots are spliced then there was only a single hot feed to the light, so there would have only been one bulb. It was more than likely a single 360 light. A single 360 would be fine for this application.

So i went ahead and replaced with a single bulb, 360 degree, fixture.
Weird thing though, it is only on when the "anchor" switch is on.
I thought it was also supposed to be on when the "nav" lights were on, since there is no "stern" light.

Jim you are correct it should be on when the Nav switch is on as well.

I would think that the two spliced together are both power one from the Anchor switch and the other from the Nav switch.

You're going to need to meter out the circuits up there to get a clear picture of what is going on. When you hit the Nav lights, do the Red and green's come on? it sounds like the Anchor circuit is completing and the hot from the Nav circuit is not. A meter would confirm this. If the R & G Nav lights are coming on, then it is somewhere between the switch and the splice. Switch should have multiple hots on it. Make sure the one from the switch to the splice is showing voltage when closed.

Yes the red/green are coming on with the nav switch. The nav switch is a 3 pos switch.
Off-1st pos/2nd pos. Cant remember what it says. Then next to that switch is the anchor switch.
I can figure it out. I'm pretty good with electronics, and my trusty Fluke 87!
