Routing cable through the wakeboard tower

Hi all,
I want to run a cable up to the top of the wakeboard tower, on a side where there is not already cable (so I can't pull through the old one). I am hoping it will be a simple case of drilling the base of the tower, inserting the cable (or a pull through) and pushing to the top.

I see by removing the base plate at the top of the tower there is a small hole that I may be able to access that wire, but will obviously take a bit of fiddling around.

Anyone already done this job and have any tips?
