Leaking fuel tank

Ok, I have taken out the last of the bulkheads and anything that was wet.

I have cut out new false floors and bulkheads.

They are being waterproofed.

The tank is ordered.

I hosed down everything I have worked on.

I am away on holidays for three weeks.

Let everything dry out.

Get home and put it back together.

Interestingly, I found a piece of conduct that runs between two bulkheads broken. A good place for water to het into the bulkheads.

This is a project I am actually enjoying.

Your replacement wood has voids and very large knots. I would consider another material for bulkheads and a sole.

The wood, and all end grains should be wrapped in fiberglass and epoxy resin before installation. Then tabbed in with fiberglass and epoxy.

Latest update.
Everything is out.

I found a bit more wet timber.
The plan now is:

Two weeks holidays.
Let everything dry out out.
The cut outs are waterproofed.
Pick up the tank.

Glass everything back in.

Ok back from holidays.

Everything seemed to dry nicely.

I spent all day glassing in.
I thought it would be easier, but I had trouble getting my mix right.
Even though I was using slow hardener, it was a hot day here and I wasted a bit of resin.
It may not be the best job, but at least it's dry, new and rock hard.

I pick the tank up on Monday, I should have everting ready, just to drop it in.

Ok.

I picked up the new tank and I am so happy.

It fitted very snugly.

Any way, the last layer of carbon is down.

Should be dry after work tomorrow. I can start putting everything back together.
I have two concerns. The hose fittings are not in the same order as the original.
Plus they took a centimeter off the length, but not the width.
Hopefully the extra layer of carbon doesn't make it too tight.

Will cross that bridge if I have too.

I know it's been a long time since my last post, but there are a few personal things that have taken priority.
But I have managed to get it mostly back together.
It still looks a bit like a work site, but trust me, there is only the finishing touches to go.

No leaks, no smells, and started cold.
