Help with Buying: '01 Maxum 2300 SRP

Maxum owners,

I am looking for a multi-purpose family boat. Most use will be lake watersports, but also have the Puget Sound and large lakes to venture into - so I'm looking at bowriders in 20-24', 5L or greater. I am researching this boat:

Supposedly belonged to high-profile person in Seattle, so was provided and cared - to include engine replacement 2yrs ago - by dealership. It's the Premium with Bravo3.

Your thoughts and experience with this or similar model?

Hi,

I have seen that boat in Chelan. The story I was told that it was previously owned by a Seahawk coach.

It is very clean and the customizations for the thrusters were done at the factory when the boat was new. It is a little odd that a boat that size has them.

The owner said that the boat handled Lake Chelan and it's changing weather, so it would be ok for Lake Washington and maybe a little small for the Sound.

That is a fairly steep price for a 17-year-old bowrider. Your paying for the engine repower and the provenance of its ownership.

A $10,000 boat with a new $10,000 engine is still a $10,000 boat. As buddy who's a boat broker often says "You can't upcharge for something the boat is supposed to have to begin with". It is what it is.
