Booster seat for Maxum 2400SCr

Hey there!!

Got an odd question. Was on a friends SeaRay over the weekend, and she has this seat at her helm that folds up and allows you to sit while being high up, almost standing. It kinda flips into place. Best description I can think of his kinda like a booster seat. I was out on my 2400 yesterday, and when I am coming into an area with traffic, or wake or swells I prefer to be above the windshield so I can see better rather than sitting down. Kinda just rest the back of my legs against the seat, but not super comfortable. So curious if anyone has anything they have used to sit up higher on the Maxums?

A bolster seat. These have no solid base so when flipped up you can stand or sit back further. Your boat has a solid base, midberth roof so the best you can do is add a cushion to sit up higher but your feet may be dangling.

Thanks Mike! Are there any specific cushion to add on for marine use like this...or just steal one off the couch lol

Nothing specific that I’m aware of. Some use type IV throw cushions other get one made.

I bought 2 of these for the same purpose and they worked great as a bolster and also meet the throwable requirement. We find many uses for them on the boat. They are vinyl coated so they don’t absorb water or get mildew. A little pricey but they have held up really well after 8 years.

Bolster seats are not for sitting up high. They are for folding up and making a leaning post to stand and lean against.

Technology this is true expecially in high performance boats. What is being asked for here is more of a raised cushion. I’ve seen some boats like a SeaRay with a bolster helm seat that people will flip up and sit on/against for a better view over the windshield.

Yes, I have them on my center console as well. Just because you can, doesn't mean that that is their purpose. When you get behind the helm, you don't really have a ton of room between the wheel and the seat, until you flip it up.

Once flipped up, the leaning pad is now twice as tall and comfortable to lean against.

There is nothing saying you can't sit on it while it's up, but you're sitting on a seat 7 inches deep. If the intention of the design was to boost UP, you'd think they'd make a seat that is comfortable to sit on. It feels like sitting on a padded log.

Unfortunately if you have a bad back or knees leaning against this doesn’t relieve the stress. There are cushions for the deck to help absorb the shock but they only mitigate it so much. For some of us sitting is the best relief but in many cases like mine my eyes are in line with the windshield frame so a boost up really helps. Fortunately this is not an issue on my Silverton.

Try googling booster buddy and bolster buddy. I've used bolster buddy on mu 3000scr for a few years. It's a little softer than I'd like but it definitely helps. I'm sure you could find an upholster to make something similar.. A stack of throwables work as well.
