8.1 gi

Hello, I have an opportunity to get my hands on a Volvo Penta 8.1 gi, my question is this, can it be dropped into my 1999 2300 sr ? Will my displacement be affected?
Thoughts / input? THX!

Are you looking to swap just the engine or do you have the engine and drive?

Merc used the 8.1 so it can be used by using the merc coupler however the throttle and wiring may take extra work to marry the two together.

What is the current power in your boat?

Currently the 5.7 V P , I will be getting the complete 8.1 Gi, with transom shield, and dp outdrive

So your current boat is Volvo powered? Then transom cut out should not be an issue, I don't know enough to say if the wiring harness will match.

BTY what boat do you have as I know it's not a Maxum but that is not an issue here.

I would look at the harness connector to the helm wiring to see if they match.

And you said it is currently powered by a Volvo 5.7, someone did a swap already as Maxum only used Mercruiser.
