Every time it’s used it fills half way up the bowl, I just want to replace it unless there’s a quick fix!

Not sure what you mean by "Every time it’s used it fills half way up the bowl"

What type of toilet do you have: manual hand pump, electric pump or vacuum pump?

Are you sure it's not a blockage between the toilet and holding tank?

Mine only fills about half way unless I hold the pedal up. As stated, we need more information on the issue you are having.

The head, like almost everything on a boat, is a 3rd party device.

1) What type is it (e.g. Manual Pump, Electric Pump, Vacu-Flush)?

2) What Make (e.g. Jabsco, Raritan, Dometic, Johnson)?

3) What part are you looking for? These are serviceable, however the entire unit is replaceable. The same one doesn't need to go back. Find one that you like that fits in the space and has the same inlet and outlet fittings (or options).

Does it need to serviced or replaced?

Thanks for the help, it’s a Jabsco manual pump. 1st issue it sucks water in but, you have to work really hard to get it to pump into holding tank. Once it’s cleared and has a little clean water you come back 10-15 later it’s filled 1/2 to 3/4 full of holding tank contaminants. Does that help? I have pictures but it’s nasty. If there is a check valve I’d say it’s failing!

Oh.. You're getting waste backing up into the toilet bowl (please do not post a picture). I'd say the check valve is the best place to start. It may just need cleaning.

We were thinking it was filling full of water and did not know it was a manual flush head.

Sounds like a bad joker valve. You can get a rebuild kit or replace the entire pump assembly. I did the latter and it cost about twice as much as the kit but took a lot less time. Have the holding tank pumped out first.

BTY how much waste is in the pump and is the vent clear? If you loosen the waste cap does it no longer back fill?

I am also having problems with pump but not what you are experiencing. I have leaks in the gaskets so I am replacing the entire pump for around $80 on ebay, free shipping. It does sound like you have some type of blockage. The joker valve will sometimes clean up with some white vinegar dumped in toilet. New valve is around $15. worst case is taking off the 1 1/2 hose and suck it out with vacuum( yuck and wear old clothes). Good luck.

The pump should not be difficult to discharge from the head to the holding tank. This can be caused by a few things:

1) Pump badly needs lubrication

2) Holding tank if full

3) Vent line is blocked.

The backflow is occurring because the joker valve is bad. These need to be replaced every few years in saltwater flush heads.

The pump comes either as a rebuild kit, or a complete pump replacement. The complete replacement is way easier to install. (intake hose, outlet hose, joker valve and three bolts).

The rebuild kit requires the same initial uninstall/reinstall as the pump replacement, but once the pump is removed, the rebuid kit requires to dissamble the pump itself.
