Default 3000SCR Stereo Upgrade

I am looking to add some speakers and amp to my 1998 3000 SCR. I am unsure of where to mount the speakers and amp and would like to see if anyone else has any ideas on location. I currently have the 4 speaker setup with 2 on the arch and 2 in the cabin and it just isn't good enough for me. I would also like to put in a subwoofer as well. If you have any pictures of where you mounted your system please send them to me or let me know where I should put everything. I am not looking to blast my music throughout the lake but rather get a better sounding system that can be heard on the boat without cranking the volume. Thanks, Steve

Oppy - We have the exact same setup and from what I understand, most of the issues we have is that it is very underpowered unit and really beat up speakers. Our boat has 16 year old technology...so time for an upgrade.

We are currently installing a Fusion AV700 in the same location as the current jvc deck. Removing the CD changer. Adding 4 6.5" Polk Audio Speakers (MM651um) and a 10" Polk Subwoofer. now, the current speakers are 5.25 so we will need to do some cutting, but that should not be an issue. The sub is going on the port side near the stern of the boat past the sink.... We are also using the Fusion 5 channel Class D Amp and upgrading all the speaker wire to handle the power. A class D amp is important due to the power consumption of the other classes of amps. Class D is the most efficient. We added Sirus/XM, Bluetooth, iPad/iPod connectors as well a remote for the swim platform.

You want to keep the sub away from the amp due to the vibrations. You also want to allow plenty of ventilation for the amp as well as a direct power wires to the batteries.

The install should be complete in the next few weeks! (yes, we are doing this outselves)

I hope this was helpful!
