Default 1998 2300sc Prop

So my 2300 is slow out of the hole and the more people I have the worse it is of course. Now my WOT is 4200rpm with a max speed of 34mph. Maybe if someone who knowns about these things could give me some info on props and what to check. Its a MC5.0 engine, bravo 1. Also this is my first boat and not sure what has been done to it before my ownership.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Your WOT is a little low should be 4400-4800. How many passages were on board when you made the test? That boat should be able to reach 40 mph.

Do you know what the current prop size is? 3 or 4 blade? Aluminum or Stainless Steel?

Options are reduce pitch by one size. If 4 blade go to a 3 blade. If SS go to aluminum. Each one of this should increase rpm by about 200 rpm. Also try using Quicksilvers prop calculator to see what it recommends.

Not sure of prop size but is aluminum and a 3 blade. How do I determine prop size of the one I have now?

If you remove it there should be a part number on the hub behind the mounting hardware or stamped on the outside of the hub between the blades.

The maxum 2300sc came with 3 engines the 5.0 5.7 and a 7.4.... I have the 5.7 and a 14x17 prop. I just installed a new engine and so far my cruising speed is 30 mph at 3000 rpm. I haven't opened her up yet to see my WOT speed and rpm.
