Default What's it Worth?

1997 2000 SRL
5.7L
Absolutely spotless low hours freshwater only mid-west boat
1 minor scratch in graphics
Upholstery, floor, everything appears to be like new, even the keel is mostly scratch free
5 blade prop, spare prop, bimini and storage covers
Trailer looks brand new as well

Seller wants $10k, almost thinking it is worth it or am I crazy?
What do you all think?
Thanks.

Default is it worth it to you?

sure sounds nice, doesn't seem like and unreasonable price to me.

Try using a few boat search engines to see if you can find listings and what is the norm being asked. Yachtworld, boats.com, boattrader, ...

I did look some looking, not a lot of hits for that model and condition is usually average. Did see $6/7k for good shape boats with same engine. NADA says maybe $8k.

I know it is very subjective but maybe the real question is do some people pay a premium of say 25% to get a cream puff? I think the thing was ~$25k new so the $10k is up there for a 25 year old boat!

I figure it might be worth it in terms of maintenance or surprises and related costs if nothing else. My thinking is you can't erase or hide hard use or poor maintenance/storage on a boat so a very clean one is likely to be sound stringer/floor, engine, and drive wise but of course an inspection and test ride is needed to confrim that.

Thanks, anyone else with feedback on $10k price for a very nice 1997 2000 SRL? Be honest, do not want to feel like I have been taken even if it does turn out to be super all around.

Vinyl looks perfect now, is that going to start to go now no matter what due to age alone?

Three scenarios:

1) if 25 years of detailed service invoices are available and a thorough thumping of the hull and stringers shows no wetness or delamination and the motor is good and the fuel tank is good and the trailer is in good shape I’d pay asking price

2) if service records aren’t available but the hull and trailer and motor and fuel tank are in good shape I’d negotiate down

3) if the hull is questionable, regardless of everything else I’d walk away

Boats can be made pretty for sale but the lipstick wears off real quick after the first couple of outings. Low hours isn’t always a good thing.
