Used a flash light and tried to locate the thread, could not see any threads, do I need to move the wheel in a certain direction. It might be a case of taking the steering wheel off then remove the cover behind. The tether mechanism may have spun over when the screw knob dropped out. Do you think it's safe to use the boat without and fix in the winter.

I’ve never had mine off so I don’t know if the threaded portion can move. Yes it can wait till the end of the season.
